God
Bless America
It's as much at home being sung in stadiums
packed with thousands of sports fans as it is in churches
filled with reflective audiences.
Regardless of the where we are, "God Bless America" has become
our nation's prayer and rallying cry since the events of September
11, 2001.
God bless America, land that I love. Stand beside her, and
guide her Through the night with a light from above. From
the mountains to the prairies To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America, my home, sweet home. God bless America,
my home, sweet home.

The
Words...
This "solemn prayer" for America has already
been answered in countless ways and in millions of lives.
We are so blessed to live, laugh, and love in America-and
we are free to enjoy all that our hearts hold so dear.
God has generously blessed America, from the peaceful Pacific
ocean beaches to the Atlantic ocean in the east. We have great
big beautiful Great Lakes in the north and the Gulf of Mexico
in the south.
America has thousands of unique cities and towns that speckle
our landscape. And we have the rolling hills, the spacious
plains, the majestic mountains. Truly this is our "home, sweet
home."
Our people are from diverse backgrounds
We are a diverse population, gathered from the four corners
of the earth, working together to make America a unique and
unparalleled nation in which to live.
But in the midst of these benefits we often fail to recognize
the greatest blessing that we, and all people of the world,
were created for-a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
And this can only be possible through true repentance. That
is doing the opposite of what we have been doing. The Bible
says, "Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish" (Luke
13:5). And in Acts 17:30 we read, "God . . . commands all
people everywhere to repent." The meaning of the word repent
is "change your mind." It's doing a complete turnaround. Instead
of going away from God, we must turn toward Him and accept
His plan for our lives.
Here's His plan
First: Recognize and confess to God that we all have sinned
before Him. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God" (Romans 3:23). "All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord has
laid on him [Jesus] the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6).
Second: Realize that Jesus paid our sin-debt by dying on the
cross. Three days later God raised Him from the dead. Jesus
wants to save you from an eternity separated from God. "For
Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the
unrighteous, that he might bring us to God" (1 Peter 3:18).
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that
whoever believes in him [Jesus] should not perish, but have
eternal life" (John 3:16).
Third: Receive Christ as your personal Savior. "To all who
did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right
to become children of God" (John 1:12). "Everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved" from eternity in hell
(Romans 10:13).
If you will pray this short prayer and sincerely mean it in
your heart, the Lord will hear you and make you one of His
own children. You will be forgiven and receive God's gift
of eternal life. And that's the most wonderful blessing from
God you'll ever receive in this blessed country!
Dear God, I confess I have sinned against You. I accept what
Christ did for me on the cross as payment for my sins. Please
cleanse my heart from my sins and save me right now. Amen.

A
reminder from the flag
The white stripes of the flag shine
so brightly, uncorrupted by any dark stain. But no
person can boast of such purity. The Bible says, "For
all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23). This sin leaves a deadly stain on our
hearts that separates us from God, a stain that cannot
be wiped away by any human effort. Only Jesus Christ,
God's Son who became a man, has ever lived a pure,
sinless life. And this perfect man is the only one
who can remove the stain of sin from our hearts and
make us pure in the sight of a holy God.
Red stripes remind me of the result of sin. The Bible
says, "without shedding of blood is no remission"
of sins (Hebrews 9:22). Moral living, charity, good
works, even baptismal water cannot wash away the stain
of sin. Because of His great love for us, God sent
His Son to earth to accept our sin upon Himself and
be punished for it in our place. Thus, it is this
blood, "the blood of Jesus Christ... [that] cleanseth
us from all sin" (1 John 1:7). The book of Isaiah
in the Bible puts it this way: "But he was wounded
for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with
his stripes we are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). But Jesus'
human body did not stay bruised and broken. He rose
to life again, conquering death.
Like standing under the evening sky, gazing at the
star-scattered blue of the U.S. flag reminds me of
Heaven, a place of ultimate freedom--from sin, sickness,
and death--and a place of eternal communion with God.
The Bible promises that in Heaven we will shine like
stars forever (Daniel 12:3). But Heaven cannot be
entered just by wishing, or by working, or even by
chance. Instead, you must believe in Christ's sacrifice
for you, turn from your sins, and live wholeheartedly
for God. The Bible tells us that "He that believeth
on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth
not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God
abideth on him" (John 3:36).
Would you like to experience the greatest freedom
of all--the freedom from sin and death? Does your
heart yearn to live forever with God in Heaven? If
so, pray something like this:
Dear Heavenly Father, I know
that I have sinned. I am truly sorry and repent from
my sins. I believe that Your Son Jesus took my punishment
by dying on the cross, then conquered death by rising
to life again. Please purify my heart from the stain
of my sin and help me to live to please You. In Jesus'
name, Amen.
